The U.S. Department of State provides support to a network of Educational Advising/Information Resource Centers around the world. These centers advise prospective international students and other audiences on higher education and study opportunities in the United States. The Education USA Advising Center Khartoum provides accurate and up-to-date information on the full spectrum of United States higher education.
The center is supported by an Educational Advisor, a reference library, educational software and Internet connection in order to meet the various needs of students aspiring to study in the United States. The center also has study materials for admission tests such as TOEFL, GMAT, GRE, SAT, LSAT as well as USMLE. The center hosts initial group advising sessions for those interested in undergraduate study (Bachelor’s Degree) or graduate study (Master’s or PhD) in the United States with individual follow-up advising available if requested. For general inquiries about studying in the United States and to participate in one of these sessions, students can visit the advising center’s Facebook page, EducationUSA Sudan, or send an email to the Educational Advisor at educationUSAsudan@state.gov.
The Educational Advisor provides guidance to prospective students in selecting appropriate universities, locating financial aid if available, and applying for admission. Please note that the advising center does not offer scholarships or have applications for them. Similarly, the Advising Center does not offer test prep courses. Rather we have all of the latest test preparation materials for students to use while visiting the center.
The advising center is open from Monday through Thursday, 12:00 to 16:00. It is located within the Information Resource Center (IRC) of the U.S. Embassy. Advance notification is necessary for your visit. Please make arrangements with the Educational Advisor at least 24 hours in advance via phone or e-mail. For further information, please email the Educational Advisor at educationUSAsudan@state.gov.
Additionally, the IRC is open Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, from 9:30 to 12:30. Students and others are welcome to visit the IRC during these hours for open access to the reference library, test preparation materials, educational software and Internet connection. Please make arrangements with the IRC Director at least 24 hours if you would like to visit during these hours.
