American Corner Skopje

The American Corner program is sponsored worldwide by the U.S. Department of State. American Corner Skopje is a partnership between the National and University Library and the U.S. Embassy in Skopje. The purpose of the Corner is to provide free information to the general public about the United States through books, magazines, CD-ROMs, and complimentary access to the Internet. The Corner also hosts a wide variety of events: such as cultural programs and guest lectures from U.S. Embassy Officials, Fulbright Scholars, US Alumni, also Video Showings, Clubs and many other activities.  The American Corner in Skopje is a comprehensive EducationUSA advising center with a very talented adviser serving both international students and the U.S. higher education community.  The center hosts a Competitive College Club for talented students from Skopje.  Macedonia is also the recipient of the EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program which supports the application costs very talented, economically disadvantaged students. Skopje is also the final stop on the EducationUSA Southeastern Europe Tour which takes place annually each spring.

Competitive College Club
Description: The Competitive College Club (CCC) is a cohort advising program that guides students through a full range of activities related to U.S. application preparation, including school selection, test preparation, essay writing, English book discussion groups, volunteer and community service projects, and overall preparation for U.S. higher education. In Macedonia, economically disadvantaged students are also able to apply for the Opportunity Funds Program which assists students with the up-front costs of application to the U.S., as well as visa and travel costs once they are accepted to a U.S. higher education institution with full funding.
