Opened in March 2018, American Corner Szeged is the newest addition to the existing network of American Spaces in Hungary. It is located at Szent-Györgyi Albert Agóra, a lively community center. The Corner’s goal is to develop programming and provide services that connect local communities and individuals to American culture and society. Its welcoming and modern environment facilitates learning, engagement and creative thinking.
Programs at American Corner Szeged include a weekly English Conversation Club and various workshops including creative writing, public speaking and intercultural communication. Those interested in improving their digital skills can attend trainings on 3D printing and modeling, robotics and video editing. In addition to regular public talks by American speakers on diverse topics, AC Szeged runs a monthly series of talks on American Photographers in Hungarian to bring U.S. culture close to a wider audience of locals.
American Corner Szeged works closely with local schools, cultural institutions, NGOs, the University of Szeged and the municipality of Szeged. It also has a library with plenty of U.S.-related resources - please find our library catalog here: acszeged.libib.com .
