Our EducationUSA Advising Center in Cape Town provides guidance and information for students interested in studying at U.S. universities and colleges. We also welcome and assist U.S. universities interested in recruiting students from the Cape, which is, the Eastern, Northern and Western Cape Provinces, South Africa. Our events include monthly introductory information sessions, follow-up group advising through our EducationUSA Scholars program, and outreach to provincial high schools and universities. The Opportunity Fund Program was introduced in 2007. This program targets outstanding but disadvantaged students and provides mentoring and assistance throughout the application process.
In a nutshell, our EducationUSA Advising Center offers the following resources and sessions:
- General Information Sessions: Attendance at a Group Session is a mandatory requirement for further advising.
- Individual Advising (after attending a general session)
- American Spaces (Libraries) Outreach
- SAT Guides & Test Center
- School & University Presentations
- College Fairs
This center is by appointment only due to security measures at the U.S. Consulate General. Students need to email the center to first attend a general information session (held monthly) and then can apply to work individually with the adviser or to have an individual consultation.
The Cape Town EducationUSA Advising Center hosts monthly information session on the last Thursday of every month at the American Corner Cape Town (Corner Darling and Parade Streets, Central Library, Cape Town). Please call American Corner Cape Town at 021-444-0997 to confirm your attendance.
