The EducationUSA advising center at Instituto Guatemalteco Americano - IGA in Guatemala City, Guatemala offers professional educational advising services to approximately 10,000 students. Operating at the comprehensive level, our advising center services students who are interested in engaging in academic exchange between Guatemala and the U.S. ranging from studying English as a foreign language, participating in short term exchanges, to enrolling into full academic degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels at accredited U.S. higher education institutions. Our EducationUSA advising center promotes a wide variety of academic opportunities and supports students, parents, teachers, local governments and higher education institutions in their efforts to achieve their academic mobility goals.The center provides a variety of educational services, including free introductory public information sessions on various topics of U.S. education, webinars, individual consultations on U.S. study, and application support services. For interested high-achieving high school students, we host a Competitive College Club program. We are also part of the Opportunity Funds program for talented, high-achieving students from low-income families. 

We provide logistical support to accredited U.S. higher education institutions on recruitment in Guatemala, as well as support open public events such as presentations and fairs to promote exchange opportunities, working closely with the local educational community.  Every year, we host the EducationUSA fair to feature U.S. higher education institutions.


Our host, Instituto Guatemalteco Americano - IGA as the only BNC in Guatemala, is the leading English Institute of Guatemala, providing English as a Second Language resources for students, as well as cultural activities from the USA, such as the Jazz Festival and the Walt Whitman American Center. They host their own high school and promote all the educational and cultural activities towards the US.
