EducationUSA at American Corner Tuzla

EducationUSA Advising Center Tuzla, as a part of the EducationUSA network with over 400 centers worldwide, actively promotes U.S. higher education around the world by offering accurate, comprehensive, and current information about educational institutions in the United States and guidance to qualified students, scholars, and professionals on how best to access those opportunities.

EducationUSA Center in Tuzla was launched in 2016, within American Corner Tuzla. It quickly became popular and has reached almost 2000 high school and university students in its first year, all through individual and group consultations, webinars, and visits to high schools and universities in this region. EducationUSA advisor in Tuzla, Edita Miftari, is a Fulbright alumna, she earned her MA degree from Central European University (accredited in the U.S.), and has extensive experience in advising young people on opportunities for academic and professional development. 

Information is provided in person and via e-mail, telephone, virtual advising, and approved social networks in both local language and English. Advising services include, but are not limited to, frequently scheduled group orientation sessions for the public, individual consultations, and assistance to advisees with all aspects of the college/university admissions process. Competitive College Club Tuzla
Description: The EducationUSA BiH Competitive College Club (CCC) assists the best and brightest students to have an improved chance at admissions to a U.S. college or university. The CCC uses a model of results-based, intensive group advising. Basic components of the EducationUSA Competitive College Club are: 1. Two meetings a month during the school year: one meeting with a discussion or guest speaker and one meeting focused on test preparation activities. 2. Communuity Service: 8 hours/month during the school year, 8 hours/week during the summer. 3. Book Club: develop reading and writing competency in English by reading books in English and practice writing and re-writing essays in English. 4. Following the CCC Code of Conduct. Deadline: Around December every year
Eligibility Requirements: Participation is open to high school students of the 3rd grade who are in the top 10% of their class. The only other requirement is commitment. Students must attend all meetings, held bi-monthly during the school year and weekly during the summer. The CCC is open to all students in Bosnia and Herzegovina regardless of gender, nationality, ethnicity, or economic background.
