EducationUSA Lagos

The EducationUSA Advising Center at the Public Affairs Section of the United States Consulate Lagos offers students access to accurate, comprehensive, and current information about educational institutions in the United States. We do this by offering free counseling sessions every Wednesday at the advising center. Sign up here bit.ly/333cihS. We also offer free outreach to secondary schools and universities in Southern Nigeria. In addition, EducationUSA conducts a highly selective membership program, which is designed for Nigerians and third-country nationals who are academically qualified to study in the U.S. We take them through the steps of applying to the most appropriate schools and we provide test preparation materials to prepare them for the standardized tests.

Upon receiving an I-20 from a U.S. institution, we take them through a Visa Orientation session to prepare them for the visa interview. All admitted students are then invited to a Pre-Departure Orientation where they can discuss their travel to the U.S. and campus life. Professors and students from U.S. institutions are invited to give them the proper perspective.

EducationUSA advisers serve as proctors for institutional examinations for distance learning students and the SAT. We coordinate the Opportunity Funds program (OFP) for academically excellent but financially disadvantaged students, the Annual College and Career Fair in September, and outreach to universities, secondary schools, and American spaces.
