Pre-Departure Orientation for students starting the fall semester 2020. Guest speakers from Higher Education institutions will join these sessions.
A discussion with incoming graduate students. Topics include the admissions process, standardized tests, internships opportunity and many more.
This informative session is aimed at school counselors to provide a structure, organization, and information they should include when writing their students letters of recommendation. We will evaluate samples, and provide practice exercises to implement these skills back in their schools. A variety of resources will be evaluated to use according to the student's needs.
As part of the application process applicants are required to write essays. This may present a challenge to international students who might not be familiar with essay conventions in English. In this session we will learn: 1. What is a thesis statement? 2. What is academic writing? 3. How can to understand arguments in writing? 4. Starting the writing process 5. Essay structure 6. Creating a strong introduction and conclusion 7. Essay submission (due one week from the session date)
