Mary American Corner

EducationUSA office in Mary is based at the Mary American Corner (MAC). Thus, all EducationUSA events and services are offered as part of MAC services.

Mary American Corner works to promote mutual understanding between the United States and Turkmenistan by covering wide range of programs on the U.S. education, culture, information, alumni and English language. MAC EducationUSA offers accurate, current, and unbiased information on study opportunities: USG exchange programs, degree or non-degree, undergraduate or graduate programs at American colleges and universities for everyone who is interested in pursuing education in the United States.

MAC EducationUSA Adviser can help with preparing necessary documents for applying to the U.S. higher education institutions. Monthly schedule includes individual consultations, group presentations, advising sessions and workshops targeting in successful application and standardized test submission; as well as information on scholarships for U.S. universities and colleges. Mary American Corner provides all visitors with free Internet access for searching U.S. universities, choosing the appropriate school, communicating with the institutions admissions offices, and completing and sending application materials. Interested visitors get access to a library with a wide range of references on the U.S. higher education application process, general admissions requirements, personal statement, resume, essay writing, various academic programs and course descriptions. MAC EducationUSA also has available test preparation materials for TOEFL, SAT, GRE, GMAT, and ACT.

Mary American Corner reaches over 2000 individuals per month. The EducationUSA Adviser at MAC gives a high priority to reaching diverse populations and educating a wide variety of potential applicants interested in academic programs in the U.S.

Undergraduate Cohort Advising (UCA)
Description: UCA is a joint program of EducationUSA and Prep4Success. It assists high school students (9th, 10th and 11th graders) who want to become strong applicants to the U.S. colleges and universities. Partakers meet year-round and participate in various activities and sessions such as: book reading and listening study groups, cross-cultural exchange presentations, standardized test preparation, college search activities and admission process workshops. Successful completion of the program makes the students eligible to apply for Top-Up Scholarship, which can be used during the first 2 years of higher education in the U.S.
Eligibility Requirements: High school students of the 9th, 10th and 11th grades.
Description: American Councils College Preparatory Course program works with universities and colleges in the United States to provide partial scholarships to Prep4Success/Undergraduate Cohort Advising (UCA) alumni based on financial need, merit, and availability of funds in order to help them achieve their academic goal of studying at a U.S. college or university. This partial scholarship is a single award for tuition and other U.S.-based, direct costs included within an I-20 form related to only the first two years of attendance at a U.S. college or university up to a maximum of $20,000. This award cannot cover tuition fees for courses that do not count towards achieving a degree. To be eligible for a Top-Up Scholarship an applicant must have UCA/P4S Alumni Status.
Eligibility Requirements: Successfully completed the American Councils College Admissions Course, Undergraduate Cohort Advising with P4S staff having: Proof of the fulfillment of 50-60 hours of Community Service; Certified academic records/transcripts in English; Two (2) signed academic recommendation letters (within the last six months- one year); Official TOEFL and SAT scores according to UCA check list; A Curriculum Vitae or Resume, highlighting any jobs, volunteer experience, coursework/certificates from a language, business, technical, and/or vocational school.
Opportunity Grant
Description: Completing Undergraduate Cohort Advising (UCA) program at Mary EducationUSA center grants successful and outstanding students with Opportunity Grant eligibility. Students who have worked closely with the EducationUSA Adviser, applying to accredited U.S. institutions and having solid, complete plans for a 4-year undergraduate degree program, with demonstrated financial needs, can become strong applicants for an Opportunity Grant. Opportunity Grant is offered within two different phases: • Phase I – Covers standardized test, college application fees, Translation of documents etc. • Phase II – Covers Visa and SEVIS fee, plane ticket to the U.S., one-time settling-in allowance.
